About Your Portrait Session
Preparing for a Photo Shoot
Clients have 2 options for their portraits: Studio or On-location
1) In the studio I make use of diffused flash to give my portaits a beautiful, natural look. My photographic style is very natural and I'll go to extra lengths to help my clients relax in front of the camera so that I can capture candid moments rather than formal, posed shots. The studio is ideal for any type of portrait including corporate, individual, maternity, boudoir, couples and family portraits. Please note that studio flash is not recommended for those who suffer from Photosensitive Epilepsy.
2) On-location shoots are a wonderful way to photograph children at their natural best... playing games, climbing trees, walking in the park, wrestling with siblings, etc. and are highly recommended for families with young, active children or those wanting to include a special place in their photographs.
Before your photo shoot we'll meet for an initial consultation either at the studio or on location to discuss your requirements so that I fully understand what you'd like out of the session. I always shoot in colour, but can also process the photos in black and white or with a sepia finish so we'll discuss these options and what you plan to do with the photos. We'll talk about the various backdrop options and how to co-ordinate colour and clothing so that individuals don't clash with each other or their surroundings.
There are lots of little details from personal grooming to jewellery to consider when having your portrait taken. To help you prepare for the shoot, you'll receive my Top Tips for a Successful Portrait Session, a thorough checklist of Portrait Do's and Don'ts. When children are involved, we'll also talk about activities, toys or pets that you may want to include in the images. And we'll decide how to split the portrait session time between individual and group shots. This is also a great opportunity to get to know you and your family better so that I can adapt my style to suit the individuals I'm photographing.
During The Photo Shoot
A shoot typically takes 40 to 60 minutes, during which I'll photograph the client(s) in a variety of ways, creating a range of full body, half body and close-up images to choose from.
Photo Selection
Within 7 to 10 days of the shoot, clients are able to view and select their images from a secure online viewing gallery. Photo selection and ordering is all done electronically and, once I receive the order, I process each image individually, removing obvious blemishes from the face and body, cloning out distracting elements and applying my own creative processing to give the images a polished, contemporary finish.
Photographic Prints
I print to long-lasting, fade-resistant Crystal Archive Photographic paper and quality-check each image to the stardard of fine art gallery prints. Clients can choose between Matt and Glossy finish. Matt is recommended for prints that will be framed.
Digital Negatives
High resolution digital packages are popular as, unlike prints, these images will last forever. Each Digital Negative is processed to a extremely high standard so that the images can be viewed and reproduced in large format, allowing clients the flexibility to use the images in a multitude of different ways. Clients received their Digital Negatives on CD. Urgnent orders can be sent via Electronic Courier.
Collection
Depending on the size of the order, the processing and printing may take up to three weeks from date of order.
